- The Utah Watercolor Society was founded in 1974, as a non-profit organization. It elevates watercolor and
educates the public of the importance of watercolor as a creative, permanent art medium.
- Meetings with demonstrations, slide presentations, and lectures are held monthly.
- Bi-monthly newsletters provide current information for upcoming shows, workshops, artist achievements, paint-outs, monthly programs, and other items of interest for the watercolor artist.
- Workshops are presented annually by nationally renowned watercolor artists.
- Juried competitive shows are held during the year. The Spring Show is open to non-members. When a
painting is accepted into the Spring Show, a star is awarded to the artist. Artists with two stars are voting
members of the Society.
- Paint-outs at various Wasatch Front locations are held throughout the year.
- Standard membership is open to any Utah resident 18 years of age or older who is interested in water media
and willing to assume the responsibilities of membership. Each member is encouraged to contribute a
minimum of eight to ten hours per year assisting in the activities of the organization. Dues are
$35.00. Full-time students under 21 may join for $15.00 annually. Our membership runs June 1st to June 1st of the
following year.
- A local chapter exists for Cache Valley, or for members wanting to attend additional events. For information
on Chapter membership and representatives, contact the president of the Utah Watercolor Society at the
address below.
- The Utah Watercolor Society is a member of the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies.
