by Mary Leaper
by Jane M. Dyer
About the Judy
Taylor Memorial Award:
“More than any other artist of our Park City generation, Judy Taylor captured
the essence of Park City and helped define what is precious to us. Her
watercolors are a magical play of light and muted shapes that capture a romantic
image we hold of our community and ourselves. Judy loved Park City and recorded
it for us in delicate detail. Her passion for history and community live on in
her works. We will miss her great style and cheerfulness and her keen eye for
seeing and recording the simple things, which, of course, never are.”
Reprinted from “Sundays in the Park” by Teri Orr, The Park Record, Aug 5, 2006.

Thoughts from our President – Gayle Allen.
Welcome to the 2007 Utah Watercolor Society Spring Open Exhibition! We are
delighted to be in the Utah Arts Alliance new gallery space. Congratulations to
all the artists that were juried into the show and to every artist who had
enough confidence in his or her work to enter the show. The quality of this
year’s entries was wonderful. We urge all artist at all levels to persevere.
Congratulations!
A Note
from the Juror, Linda Kemp.
"My sincere congratulations to all artists who submitted work to this
exhibition. There were many fine paintings to choose from which made my job
of selecting a limited number very difficult. My goal was to build an exhibition
that was diverse in styles, subject matter and technique that would represent
the high level of skill that was presented." A Canadian artist, Linda is
extensively recognized for her unique contemporary watercolors and innovative
use of negative space and glazing. She is the author of the #1 best-selling
book, Watercolor Painting Outside the Lines—A Positive Approach to Negative
Painting. A full time artist, she frequently instructs and lectures at
national symposiums and watercolor workshops throughout
Canada,
the US, and the United Kingdom.
